And just like that, it’s over, another Berlin Fashion Week done and dusted… This year we spent our time attending events, like the 2019 Fashion Show by NEONYT. Our proudest appearance last week however was on our very first panel presentation, in collaboration with Neonyt at Kraftwerk and… It. Totally. Ruled!
We are so grateful to Neonyt who invited us to share the space! PrePeek was basically one, big wardrobe, complete with a professional photographer and make-up artist… An excuse to get dressed up and documented, while doing so in 100% sustainable designs, thanks to the many brands who loaned clothes. It was the perfect location for our event.
We believe in the importance of our community and what we, as a collective, can do to make an impact in the world. With a line up of 4 influencers hand picked to represent Collabary; focussing on the topic of sustainability in fashion, we covered topics such as minimalism, shopping vintage and the true cost of clothes.
Kim reminded us that – whether you have 300 or 3M followers – there is a certain responsibility that comes with occupying space on social media. Considering our reach across all guests at our panel (which was 3.4M by the way!) it is clear that we have power, thus impact, in numbers.
Sophie taught us that you don’t have to be an expert in sustainability to make a difference, it is the small steps that can help, like shopping for quality over quantity. Buying pieces that last the test of time rather than for specific events and getting wear out of your garments, or even better, swapping outfits with your girlfriends.
If you still feel the desire to buy something new, that is totally fine, but why not shop for clothes that are made of natural fabrics? Like linen, cotton, hemp or flax, suggested Holly. Don’t know where to start? Never fear, read this article here by Holly which is a sustainable shopping guide.
We can all use our influence on social media for issues that are bigger than ourselves and so, what better way to introduce this topic, than with a conversation at Fashion Week. Thank you to our female power houses for an energising, insightful and memorable conversation that has left feeling motivated to learn more.
We are feeling ready to take action in our lives and to hopefully attract more conscious lifestyle choices. So, what about you, reader? Share your sustainable fashion story on Instagram and tag #CollabaryCommunity so we can work together✨
